Special surname note: Although the headstones for Forrest V Clinkenbeard and his parents Mace and Elzada are engraved with "Clinkinbeard" in this burial plot at Evergreen Cemetery, it is evident from obituaries and other sources that the commonly used surname for this family was "Clinkenbeard". However, of their children, some chose to use Clinkinbeard surname spelling while others used the Clinkenbeard surname spelling.

While F/A/G guidelines prefer the spelling of headstones to be used for memorials, in the opinion of this contributor the use of "Clinkinbeard" on this memorial could cause great genealogy confusion for those researching members of this family in Jefferson County.

Whether or not the engraved "Clinkinbeard" was an engraving error or a variation on the "Clinkenbeard" name isn't clear; this contributor is choosing to post this memorial under the "Clinkenbeard" surname and will let others who view the headstone photo come to their own conclusions.
