Obituary

Elithan D. Hall was born in Nashville, Illinois, March 13, 1854. He died at his home south of Gypsum, Kansas, May 22, 1917. He came to Kansas in September, 1869 and was married to Anna Jane Gosso June 7th, 1878. To this union was born four boys and one girl. One boy died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, four children; Mrs. Grace Beetch of Enid, Oklahoma, Arthur and Alonzo Hall of Gypsum, and Carl Hall of Kansas City, Mo. Also a brother, John Hall of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and six sisters, Susan Stahl of Assaria, Kansas, Madge Graham of Los Angeles, California, Elvirah Gaultney of May, Oklahoma, Hattie McCance of Topeka, Kansas, Sarah Holman of Sioux City, Iowa, and Hester Milller, his twin sister, of Hardtner, Kansas; and six grandchildren. All of these were present except his brother and two others, all three of whom were sick and unable to attend the funeral, which was held at his late residence Thursday, May 24, at 2;30 P. M., conducted by Rev. I.W. Bailey, pastor of the Gypsum Baptist churcb. The scripture text was taken from St. John 11-35.

The music was furnished by a mixed quartet; Mr. Geo. Stein, Mrs. Geo. Gillum, Mys. W. E. Needels and Mr. L. H. Danks. The pall bearers were six of our business men in Gypsum, T, P. Wheatley, J. Schmitter, C. B. Manning, J. 0. Saddoris and J. H. Dickerson.

The funeral was one of the largest attended this community had ever witnessed. Mr. Hall was an old settler and was generally well liked. He' was a kind husband and loving father, and, a good neighbor. When he was a young man, 23 years old, he united with the Buffalo Ridge Baptist church Hobbs Creek, Kansas.

The family have a host of friends who extend their sympathy at this time of bereavement.
