Elizabeth S. Miller was born in Ohio, December 14, 1831, was married to G. W. Hiatt at Cheviot, Ohio, May 13, 1852, died at her home four miles south of Luray, February 16, 1900 at 4:30 a.m., was buried in the Combs Cemetery, February 18, at 4 p.m. Funeral sermon was preached by her pastor, Rev. H. E. Shepherd, in the Methodist Church at Luray, Sunday, 3 p.m. The deceased joined the church in girlhood. She was the mother of eleven children, of whom three are dead, one living in Missouri, one in Colorado, one in Nebraska, and five in Oklahoma Territory. Only two of the children could be present at the funeral, Grant Hiatt, of Wyaconda and Mrs. Hunt, of Nebraska. Deceased had been a sufferer for years but took a severe attack of asthma, Friday a.m. and only lived one hour. Her husband is not expected to live long, as he is now very low from apoplexy.
