A successful farmer and did much toward encouraging others to settle in the "Dutch Settlement." One day 2 strangers, passing through the county, stopped at Andrew's home looking for supper and lodging. They were welcomed in their home if for no other reason for the news they might bring of the outside world. Both strangers complained of not feeling well and in the morning it was discovered they had smallpox, Andrew contracted it and died.
