Melba Ahlstrom
Seamstress
Melba Ahlstrom, a seamstress and San Rafael resident, died Jan. 2 in San Rafael. She was 97.
Born in San Francisco, she worked as a seamstress for more than 30 years in San Francisco. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and making braided hooked rugs. She was also active in the Senior Center of San Francisco.
She is survived by her sister, Maurine Umland of Pleasanton, and two nieces, Jackie Boggs of Larkspur and Carol Umland Blez of Dublin.
Graveside services will be held in Sandy, Utah. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation of Nothern California.
