Mary Jane Skipper's parents were Anna Jane Craddock and James Madison Skipper. She had one sibling, William James M Skipper who married Martha A. Lucas, my grandparents.

Mary JaneSkipper married Stephen D. Jernigan 19 Dec 1869 Barbour,Alabama.
Film # 1289483 V. 4, 4A
Mary and Steven had eight children. Five children lived to adulthood.
Martha Jane & Stella Eloise were born in Alabama.
William Madison "Will" Jernigan was born Feb. 8, 1874 Tx
David ELonzo, abt.1877 Tx
Willis,abt. 1879 in Texas
Sallie, Ada and Corda were born and died within the first year of their lives.
Ada and Corda were twins, born July of 1882.
Mary Jane died 30 days after the twins were born.
The girls died 6 months later January 1883.

Mary Jane Skipper was my great grand aunt. Her brother is my 2nd great grandfather. Their father, James Madison Skipper died the same year his son was born 1849. Mary Jane was less than two years old.

Mary Jane and her brothers family traveled to Overton, Rusk Co Texas around the same time. It is my belief they traveled together. After Mary Jane died (in Texas) William Skipper and his family moved to Bienville Parish, Louisiana. I wondered why they chose this location and I discovered Stella Eloise Jernigan (William's niece) and her husband, William A Johnson, were neighbors. I am left wondering if they traveled together or the Johnsons moved to La. first.

Any history or information is welcome.
