Florence Coalson and J.G. Ashford were married on September 10, 1917 in her mother's home in Houston. She was quite the young socialite in Houston. They lived in Huntsville, Texas and were only married 12 years when she passed away from cancer. She almost died giving birth to my father, John Richard Ashford and second son, in December of 1928. He first son was James Goree Ashford III (really the 4th one in line) known to family as Uncle Boots. She is buried next to J.G. in Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville.
