OBITUARY

Philip C. Braun Dies at 80, Ill Several Months

Philip C. Braun, one of Lawrenceburg's well known citizens and a leading business man of many years, died at his home on Sunday afternoon, October 9. His death was not unexpected but brought grief to his many friends and relatives. He had been ill since retiring from the state license bureau office in the Peoples National Bank building. Mr. Braun would have been 81 years old next Saturday.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Fitch brothers funeral chapel with Rev. O. K. Malone, pastor of the Beecher Presbyterial Church officiating. Burial was in Greendale Cemetery.

Mr. Braun was born October 15, 1868 in Lawrenceburg a son of Peter and Sarah Browneller Braun, pioneer residents of this city. He spent his entire life in Lawrenceburg and was well known in business circles. He was cashier at Peoples National Bank from 1892 to 1927, at which time he resigned to become president of the Ohio Valley Casket Company. He also was one of the founders and treasurer of Perpetual Building and Loan Association until his death. For the past seven years he was manage of the automobile license bureau here.

On October 16, 1895, he was married to Grace Wymond and to this union was born four children, Philip W. of Cincinnati, Robert M. who preceded his father in death, J. Frederick and Sarah F. Dober both of Lawrenceburg, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His grandson Robert Braun, is also the grandson of the late Mr. Nowlin, former president of the Peoples Bank, uniting two families prominent in the banks earlier days.

Mr. Braun was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and had been secretary of the Lawrenceburg Masonic Lodge No. 4 for a number of years. He was a Greendale School board member for years and a director of the cemetery association.

He was an ideal family life marked by devotion and interest in his family group. He was of kind and considerate disposition and an inspiration to all who knew him.
