Mr. J. J. LeSueur passed into his final and eternal rest at his home near White Plains last Wednesday night, after many months of suffering. He had resided in the community for thirty years or more, and had built around himself a family, a reputation for honesty, truth and fair dealing surpassed by few, if any. His life was truly exemplary. Impressive funeral services were conducted at Lebanon church Thursday afternoon by his pastor, Rev. M. R. Smith, of Five Points, assisted by Rev. A. F. Laird, pastor of Lebanon and LaFayette Presbyterian churches, and Rev. A. C. Yeargan, for thirty years or more a friend and brother.
Mr. LeSueur is survived by his widow, four sons, Goodwyn LeSueur of Roanoke, C. M. LeSueur of Waverly, DeWitt and J. L. LeSueur of White Plains and three daughters, Mrs.J. W. Belcher, Jr. H. G. Higgins and Mrs. Frances LeSueur, all of White Plains.
Chambers Co., AL News ~ 1919
Mr. J. J. LeSueur was born in Macon, Bibb Co., GA, May 25,1852, moved to Chambers County in 1887, residing near Buffalo, died June 18, 1919. He was a resident of Chambers County for Thirty-two years, following the occupation of section foremanfor the Central of Georgia railroad. How gloriously he served in this capacity carrying the same quality of glory in his work as a man in the pulpit. Few mencatch that visionof service realize that all work isreligious and that God is not only a witness to all transactions, but himself is a part of them. He reguarded the safety of his fellow-countrymen as a sacred thing and his record of years of service is a remarkable one. When god is thus recognized andyour work is regarded in that holy light, "your light shines and others see your good works and glorify God."
He has passed away, but to the coming generations and expecially to those of his own household, thepure life that he lived and the examples he set will live in their hearts for years and years.
