Bertha was born in Killcreek, Osborne Co., KS on 16 Jul 1881 to Adolf and Mary Morgan Hackerott.
Bertha Lizette Hackerott married John Newton Cammack on April 22, 1914 at the ranch house of her parents about 12 miles south of Nara Visa.
Bertha's parents, Adolph and Mary Hackerott, came from Alton, KS and established a store and hotel in Obar, filed on land, and later bought the UV ranch. Both Bertha and her sister, Maye, taught school at Obar.
Bertha Hackerott was the secretary of a ladies' club that was formed in 1908. They boasted 31 members. One meeting each month they pursued literary works, while the other was devoted to handiwork.
John and Bertha lived on their claim until they bought the UV ranch from her family. There they raised their family of 5 children.
Mrs Cammack passed from this life 10 Jul 1962 at the Mayfield Rest Home in Clayton, Union Co., NM, USA. She was survived by her children: Mrs. Alfred Smith, Hereford, TX; Addison Cammack, Nara Visa, NM; Ruth Cammack, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Raymond R. (Vashti) Baird, Clayton, NM; Mrs. Jack Weeks, Kensington, MD. She was also survived by a brother, Aris O. Hackeroot, Cupertino, CA
