Archelaus was the son of Abraham and Mary "Molly" (Moore) Alloway Strange. He is buried in the Strange Cemetery located on the old home place back in a wooded area on Crocus Creek in Adair County, Kentucky. His headstone is broken and laying on the ground. He married Elizabeth Coffey on November 23, 1802 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. They had eleven children.
