Hazel Slaven,
83, died May 16, 1997, at the Scott County Hospital. Born in Scott County, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Marion and Carrie Mays Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded also in death by one sister, Franie Phillips; and one brother, Floyd Phillips. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Norwood, Ky. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Hillis Slaven; one sister, Faye Phillips Jeffers and husband, Norman; two brothers, Alonzo Phillips and Glen Phillips; special friends, Charlie and Sandy Jeffers. Funeral services were conducted May 19, 1997, at West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Kazee officiating. Interment followed in the Phillips-Long Cemetery. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
