"MRS. ANNA ELIZABETH PARET.
-----------------------------
Descendant of Families Well Known to Earlier New York.

Mrs. Anne Elizabeth Paret died of apoplexy [stroke] yesterday at her home, 101 West Eighty-fifth street, at the age of 75. She was the daughter of Dr. Jahail Parmly, who in the '40s was a noted New York dentist. He was the inventor of the furness for making porcelain teeth.

Mrs. Paret's family on her father's side was founded by Baron Parelie, who fled from Belgium on account of religious persecution, settling in Connecticut in 1634. She was the widow of Henry Paret, head of Henry & John Paret, said to have been the only wholesale firm of woollen clothiers in New York that weathered the storm of the civil war. She was the sister-in-law of Bishop Parmly of Maryland [sic: William Paret, Episcopal Bishop of Maryland, died January 18, 1911], who died about three years ago. Mrs. Paret is survived by five children, Caroline E. Paret, Annie Parmly Paret, managing editor of "Harper's Bazar"; Henry Paret, J. Parmly Paret, the tennis playere and writer, and Frank M. Paret of Syracuse."
