Blanche S. Carlson, 89, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Thursday, November 2, 2000 at the Wedgewood Retirement Home....

Mrs. Carlson was born July 28, 1911 at Loup City to Hans and Mary (Bloomquist) Johnson. She attended Palmer High School.

She married Dr. Martin E. Carlson on September 13, 1949. They lived in Wahoo, where Dr. Carlson was the dean of Luther College. They later moved to Kearney. In 1978 they retired and moved to Grand Island. Dr. Carlson died on March 23, 2000.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Roger Mueller and Dale Carlson, both of Grand Island; a sister, Fern Miller of Palmer; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Martin, Harry, Elmer, James and Carl; and six sisters, Minnie, Gladys, Alice, Florence, Lilian and Clara.
