Phyllis Atwood Bills Conley, of Sarasota, died July 22, 2010, at the young age of 97.

Born April 4, 1913, in Brockton, Mass., Phyllis was an inspirational elementary school teacher who received her B.S. from Skidmore College in 1935 and her Masters of Education in 1969 from Rollins College.

She was a lover of crossword puzzles, Scrabble, good food and being outdoors, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.

Phyllis leaves her beloved daughters Bettina Johnson and Jan Alexander of Florida. She also leaves four grandchildren, Leighton Johnson, Chandler Johnson, Jennifer Vanston and Jessica Poulsen; as well as nine great-grand-children, Chandler, Audrey, Olivia, Leighton, Andrew, Chad, Ceylon, Nathan and Sophia.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Roberta Bills McCormick.

A memorial service will be at Union Cemetery, South Carver, Mass., in September.
