Helga Carlson Clapp
San Bernardino - Helga Carlson Clapp, 88, a well-known resident for 82 years, beloved wife of the late Roy L. Clapp, died at St. Bernardine Medical Center Sept. 9, 1987. She was a native of Fort Madison, Iowa, moving to San Bernardino in 1905.
After graduating from Longmire Business College, Mrs. Clapp was employed by the Santa Fe Railway Store Department as a stenographer until her retirement 40 years later.
Mrs. Clapp was a member of the Church of Religious Science and was active in Eastern Star, Retired Railroad Employees Association, Women's Club and Red Cross.
She is survived by a brother, Edward Hilmer Carlson of Fresno, two nieces, Linda Golinvaux of Minneapolis and Peggy DeMuth of Tulare; two cousins, Lydia Ross and Vaiden Zimmerman of Fresno; four great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew.
Friends are invited to a memorial service at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel at noon Saturday.
Private burial at Mountain View Cemetery.
Remembrances may be sent to San Bernardino Chapter of the American Red Cross or donor's favorite charity.

Helga Carlson and Clifton Perdew Wed In Church Ceremony
This morning at 10 o’clock a church wedding ceremony will occur at the beautiful All Souls Congregational church in Wilshire boulevard, Los Angeles, which will be of interest in a wide circle of friends of Miss Helga Carlson and Clifton Colliver Perdew, both well known in San Bernardino, who will plight marriage vows at this hour.
A group of relatives and intimate friends will be present to witness the ceremony and extend their felicitations.
The single ring ceremony will be read in the chapel of the church by Dr. Harper, assistant to Dr. Aked who is on vacation.
The bride will be attended by an intimate friend, Mrs. Mattie Sowers, and the groom by his twin brother, Clyde Perdew of Detroit, and the bride will be given in marriage by her brother, Edward Hilmer Carlson of Bakersfield.
Miss Carlson will wear a handsome and very becoming black velvet ensemble, trimmed in ermine, with blouse of white georgette, close fitting black hat with lace and rhinestone trimming and velvet bow across the back in the newest mode. She will wear black moire pumps. Her flowers will be an arm bouquet of white Bride rosebuds, white sweet peas and maidenhair fern.
Mrs. Sowers will wear a sand tan ensemble with hat, shoes and accessories in the same shade, and carry a round bouquet of pink rosebuds and pink sweet peas.
The bride and groom are to leave soon after the ceremony on a motor wedding trip along the coast to San Francisco, and will return in two weeks to make their home in San Bernardino where they will be welcomed by a host of friends.
The bride wore away a very smart costume in the new chocolate brown in flat crepe, with lace yoke and cuffs, the costume in a coat style. The top coat completing the costume is of brown broadcloth in the new fall style with muskrat collar and cuffs in the same brown, shoes, purse, gloves and the face line hat of felt and ribbon in two tones, tan and brown, all in harmony.
Saturday night, the bridal party enjoyed a very happy pre-nuptial dinner at the Mary Louise in West Seventh Street.
The vivacious and much beloved bride has been given many courtesies by her friends since the announcement of her marriage, and many beautiful gifts were bestowed on her. She is an active and popular member of Silver Wave chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and of San Gorgonio Shrine, and is a charter member of the Business and Professional Women’s club, the Santa Fe Girls club, and an evening bridge club. She is the daughter of Mrs. Alma Carlson, of 2119 Arrowhead avenue.
The groom a native son of san Bernardino, popular in Santa Fe machine shop and railway circles, is a Mason, member of Phoenix lodge No. 178. He is a member of San Bernardino post, American Legion, serving in the navy during the World War, and made 22 complete trips overseas in transport service,
The bride has been one of the clerical staff in the offices of Storekeeper Stewart for several years, and was given a luncheon and table silver by her feminine associates, and by the office force additional table silver in her chosen pattern, The Lady Mary.

Helga Perdew Married to Roy L. Clapp
Announcement has been made of an interesting wedding, taking place at high noon, Saturday, March 13, when Helga Perdew became the bride of Roy L. Clapp at Riverside. The single-ring ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Roy Nichols at the Church of religious Science in the neighboring city.
The bride wore a blue dress with matching bolero and a blue and white hat, with harmonizing accessories. She wore a corsage of gardenias.
Only the bride’s immediate family, including her mother and her brother, attended the wedding. A luncheon party followed at the Mission Inn, after which Mr. and Mrs. Clapp motored to Laguna beach for a brief stay. They are residing at 3690 La hacienda Dr., Del Rosa.
Mrs. Clapp is the daughter of Alma Carlson of 2119 Arrowhead Ave., and was educated in city schools. She is employed as a stenographer in the purchasing and store department of the santa fe, and is active in the Eastern Star, the White Shrine and Uptown Business & Professional Women’s Club. The bridegroom, now retired, formerly was employed in the same department of the Santa Fe; he also was educated in san Bernardino.
The bride’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Carlson, attended the wedding with their daughters, Linda and Margaret Ann.
Married 1st to Clifton Perdeu, 2nd to Roy L. Clapp.
