SHERRARD, Ill. - Dorothy Pauline Hall, 83, of Sherrard, Ill., passed away on November 7, 2012, at Bickford Cottage, Moline, with her family at her side after a battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 312 West 1st Street, Milan. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., with a wake service conducted at 2 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion, Ill. Burial will be in Sherrard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Ambrose Food Pantry or the Sherrard Volunteer Fire Department.

Pauline was born on March 16, 1929, in rural Preemption, Ill., in Mercer County, to Charles and Edith Cook Metzner. She married Herbert Hall on June 11, 1948, in Aledo, Ill.

Pauline was first employed at Servus Rubber as a seamstress. She then worked in the office at Farmall before taking time to raise her family. She later worked as a machine operator with Container Corps before retiring.

Pauline was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church, where she was involved with the food pantry. She was also a member of the Sherrard Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Pauline enjoyed her flowers and dancing and she particularly enjoyed winters in Arizona and many hours spent boating with her family and friends on the Mississippi. Pauline loved life and lived it to the fullest and will always be remembered for doing her part.

Survivors include her husband of over 64 years; children, Sherry, Milan, and Garry, Sherrard; grandchildren, Jerry (Shelby) Samuelson, Woodhull, Ill., Rich (Pam) Hall, Milan, and Ashley Samuelson, Chicago; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jacqueline Nelson, Woodhull, and Betty (Bruce) Paul, Aledo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William "Bill" Metzner.
