He was born Dec. 3, 1946 in Moline a son of Charles and Edith Cook Metzner.
He graduated from United Township High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 where he served in Korea. He married Joan E. Keck Sept. 10, 1965 in New Windsor.
Bill enjoyed learning and continuing his education having received his associate's degree in accounting from Black Hawk College in 1993.
Bill was employed as a truck driver for McLeod in Decatur, Ill., and for many years was a nuclear technician at both the Clinton and Cordova Nuclear Power Plants.
His memberships include the New Windsor Presbyterian Church, Ophiem American Legion Post, Oxford Township Volunteer Fire Department and he enjoyed computer and politics.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; daughters, Rebekah McCaw of Woodhull, Anissa Brinkman of Anchorage, Alaska; grandsons, Morgon, Colby and Cooper; sisters, Pauline (Herb) Hall of Sherrard, Jackie Nelson of Woodhull, Betty (Bruce) Paul of Aledo and several nieces and nephews.
