MRS R T GEE DIES

Union, Dec 16 [1928] - Mrs Gertrude Gist Gee, widow of Reuben Thompson Gee, and daughter of Col and Mrs Nathaniel Gist of the Broad River section of Union County, died at her home at Carlisle, Union County, this morning at 7 o'clock.

Mrs Gee was 76 July 20, past. She is survived by the following children: Miss Mary Wilson Gee, dean of Converse College, Spartanburg; Nathaniel Gist Gee, field director of the China medical board, Rockefeller Foundation; of Peking, China; Robert E Gee of Newberry; Mrs Gertrude Gee Lesesne, teacher in the Spartanburg schools, Spartanburg; Reuben T Gee, Jr, of Carlisle; Paul M Gee, chemical engineer of the Edison company, of Brooklyn, NY; Wilson Gee, professor of rural economics in the University of Virginia; and Mrs R C Chandler of Mayesville. The following brothers and sisters survive her: Mrs Eunice Gist Fleming of Carlisle; Miss Minnie C Gist of Newberry; Joseph F Gist of this county and Nat Gist of Newberry.

The funeral will be held at the home at Carlisle at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, and interment will be in Grace Methodist church cemetery, Union.

Mrs Gee was prominent in social and religious activities, and her friends were numbered by the number of her acquaintances. A beautiful life, worthily lived, is the rich heritage she left her children. All of her children, except the son in China, were with her during her last illness, which was but one brief week. She suffered an attack of influenza which developed into pneumonia, resulting in her death.

HOLD FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS GERTRUDE GEE

Spartanburg, Dec 18 [1928] - Funeral services for Mrs Gertrude Gee, the mother of Miss Mary Wilson Gee, dean of Converse College, were held at Carlisle Monday afternoon. Mrs Gee had been at the bedside of her mother for several days. Dr R F [? too faded to read], president of Converse College, accompanied by representatives from each class at the college, attended the funeral.

Mrs Gee was a native of Union County and the daughter of Nathaniel Gist and Mary McDowell Gist and was educated in Yorkville seminary. She married Robert T Gee of Union.

Besides the daughter at Converse College, she is survived by the following sons and daughters: Nathaniel Gist Gee of Nanking, China; Robert E Gee of Newberry; Gertrude Gee Lesesne of Spartanburg; Paul M Gee of Brooklyn, NY; Reuben T Gee of Carlisle; Wilson Gee of the University of Virginia, and Mrs Drucilla Gee Chandler of Mayesville.
