Elmer Adamson, 71, lifelong resident of Appanoose county died at his home two miles southwest of Centerville at 12:45 this morning. Mr. Adamson was born on a farm near Numa. Later he lived near Mystic and but with the exception of a few years spent on farms near Mystic and Griffinsville, he has spent most of his life near Centerville. He was a member of the Christian Church and gave much of his time and effort to that service.

Elected to the office of Appanoose county board member for the term of 1923, Mr. Adamson served the regular three year term retiring at the end of 1925. Due to his political activity and his residence in various parts of the county, he was widely known and has a great many friends and relatives, who mourn his passing.

Mr. Adamson is proceeded [sic] in death by his wife and one child. Eight children surviving are: Karl C., of Chariton; Olive Johnson, who has been taking care of him for the past two years; Ralph W., of Clarion; Opal of Danville, Ill.; O. Gale of Des Moines; Cecil T. of St. Paul; Ilo of Olds, Ia., and LeRoy of Burlington.

The body is to be at the Miller funeral home until the funeral services, which will be held at the Christian Church Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Concord cemetery.

Elmer E. Adamson was born on a farm near Numa, Iowa, Dec. 25, 1864, and died March 27, 1936. His parents were Henry and Pentheselia (Frost) Adamson, who came to Iowa in 1836.

He spent his boyhood on the farm of his parents and was educated in the public schools of that community. In 1888 he married Carrie Temple of Griffinsville. To them were born nine children, of whom one died in infancey [sic]. Those living are: Karl E. of Chariton, Olive Johnson of Centerville, who by her untiring efforts cared for and cheered her father during his last illness; Ralph W. of Clarion; Opal Hartwick of Chicago; Otis Gale of Des Moines; Cecil of St. Paul, Minn., llo of Olds and Leroy of Burlington.

Besides his children and twelve grandchildren, he leaves a host of relatives in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and elsewhere, also friends wherever he has been known.

He has from young manhood been active in community and county affairs, grateful for opportunity to serve his neighbor or his God.

His wife preceded him in death two years ago and he has now gone to join her in that house not made with hands, eternal in the Heavens.
