Edward Joseph Howley, 61, of 1036 Pavone st, Benton Harbor, was pronounced dead on arrival at Mercy hospital at 6:33 p.m. last evening.
The Benton Harbor fire department was called to the Howley house to administer oxygen after which he was rushed to the hospital where Dr. John Bailey ruled the death due to a heart attack.

Mr. Howley was born Aug. 27, 1900 in Watervliet and had resided in this area his entire life. He was a distributor for Pure Oil co.

Survivors; include his widow, Dorothy; three sons, James of Benton Harbor and David and Michael, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Joyce Norkus and Mrs. Sharon LaLonde of Benton Harbor, Mrs. Elinor Wilson of St Joseph, and Annette at home; a brother, William Howley of Watervliet; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Hopewell and Mrs. Henry Thrall of Watervliet; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Howley was a member of St. John's Catholic church where requiem high, mass will be offered Friday at 10 a.m. by the Rt, Rev. Msgr. Joseph R. Byrne. Burial will be in the Calvary cemetery, Benton Harbor. The rosary will be recited Thursday, at 8 P.M. in the Reiser chapel, Benton Harbor.
