Roger Miller Obituary
Roger Lee Oscar Miller was the first-born to Alvin and Gladyce Miller in Lessor Township, McIntosh, Minn. He graduated from Fosston High School at the age of 17 in the spring of 1954. Following high school he worked a variety of jobs from driving trucks and working on a farm.
After his discharge he went to work for Wilcox Lumber in Fosston, then at Simonson's Lumber in Fargo. While working in Fargo he met his bride to be, Donna Kennedy. On Nov. 2, 1963, Roger married Donna Kennedy and remained her loving partner for 42 years. In 1966 the family moved to Minneapolis as Roger secured a job at Knox Lumber Company. During this time he continued his education by completing a course in electronics and small engine repair. In October 1976 the family moved to Fosston. Roger returned to his love of farming by raising a variety of animals on a dairy farm. In 1990 he went to work for Cenex delivering bulk fuel. Unfortunately, due to his declining health, he was forced to retire after a few years. But this did not keep Roger down. Even as it became more difficult to get around, Roger kept his spirit up and developed strong relationships with the people in the community and the hospital. Though his health began to limit his activities, he still kept a smile on his face, enjoying his growing family with the addition of grandchildren. After many years of battling with COPD and most recently cancer, Roger passed away at the Fosston Hospital, surrounded by friends and family. He is already sorely missed. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna; daughter, Brenda (Chris) Berg; sons, Mike Miller and Dan (Shelby) Miller; four grandchildren: Isaac and Michelle Miller, Benjamin and Brooklynn Berg; sister, Barb (Nordin) Brinkman; brother, Richard (Lynette) Miller; nieces: Tammy (Lonny) Carlson, Nancy (Jeff) Stewart, Lori (Cory) Carlson; nephews: Paul (Jenny) Brinkman, Mark (Julie) Brinkman, and Allen (Veronica) Miller. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar and Clara Miller, Gunder and Betsy Salvhus, and nephew, Steve Brinkman.
