Barbara Carol Miller was born on May 19, 1939 in McIntosh, Minnesota to parents Alvin and Gladyce Salvhus Miller. She grew up in Hill River Township and graduated from Fosston High School in 1957.
Barb was united in marriage to Nordin Brinkman on September 6, 1958 at Vernes Lutheran Church in Hill River Township. After their marriage, they lived in Fosston for a number of years before purchasing a farm northeast of Fosston in 1976. Barb and Nordin raised their family on this place and where they continue to reside.
In addition to raising her family, Barb worked for Dr. Neuhjar at the eye clinic in Fosston, at Nord’s Drug, Birch Cove Imports and as head cook at the elementary school in Fosston. In more recent years, she was a Mary Kay consultant which she enjoyed.
Barb was an active member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church through the years. She taught Friday and Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was active in Ladies groups. She liked gardening, fishing with family, canning, and was known for her yummy pickles and jelly.
Barb went home to be with her Lord and Savior early Friday morning, March 15, 2019 at McIntosh Living Center with her family by her side at the age of 79 years.
Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Nordin,; two sons, Paul (Jennifer) Brinkman , and Mark Brinkman (special friend, Jennifer) ; five grandchildren, Khalea Zobel, Andrew (Megan) Brinkman, Amanda Brinkman (fiancé, Sean), Kim Brinkman, and Todd Brinkman; one brother, Richard (Lynette) Miller sister-in-law, Donna Miller; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her son, Steven; her parents, Alvin and Gladyce Miller; father and mother-in-law, Olaf and Emma Brinkman; and one brother, Roger Miller.
