Margaret Risk, 84, of Keokuk, Iowa, died Sunday, May 14, 2000 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Born April 13, 1916 in Canton, she was the daughter of Tom and Edna Goodwin Gruber. She married Robert O. Risk on February 1, 1936 in Canton. He died January 10, 1991. Mrs. Risk had been a resident of Keoku, Iowa since 1941. She was employed at Woolworths for 25 years, retiring in 1980. For the past 18 years she had been the Financial Secretary at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk. She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, a member of the Women's Service Circle, the Fellowship Committee and the Financial Committee. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include: one daughter, Bobbi J. Uyemura, Keokuk, Iowa; one son, Gary Risk, Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jo Brown, Ewing, and Zilpha Shatzer, Shellrock, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Robert Gruber. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday May 17, 2000 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Rev. Fred Lohman officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk, Iowa. Visitation was held after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Church of Christ of Keokuk, Iowa.
