Services Sunday

Funeal was held Sunday at the Shawmut First Baptist Church for Esse L. Champion, 76, of Newnan, Ga., formerly of Shawmut, who died Saturday at 4:55 p.m. at A Newnan Hospital.

Services were cnducted by the Rev. David Bentley, pastor of the church, and assisted by the Rev. J. H. King. Johnson and Company Funeral Home of Langdale was in charge.

He was a native of Wadley, Ala., a member of the Shawmut First Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Shawmut Mill.

Mr. Champion had been a resident of Newnan for the past five years and had been in declining health most of the time.

Survivors inculde a son, Seaborn Champion of Shawmut; two daughters, Mrs. Rena Yarbrough of West Point, and Mrs. Kempton Ballard of Newnan; a sister, Mrs. Ora Duffey of Langdale and a brother, Claude Champion of Shawmut; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
