Obituary- Alexander Beemer departed this life, December 8th, 1895, at the ripe age of 86 years, 10 months, and 20 days. He was born in the state of New Jersey, January 18th, 1809. While a youth his father moved to Luzerne County, PA. He was united in marriage to Miss Arseneth Willsey, May 23rd, 1835. To them were born six children; five of whom survive him. In the spring of 1849, he came to the state of Illinois, and settled in Brooklyn township where he remained until the day of his death. He was an industrious man and successful farmer. To him idleness was sin. He became a Christian at the age of 18 years, and continued to keep the faith for sixty-nine years. His death was peaceful. He had been a good soldier. God said, "Well done" and was invited up higher to receive his reward. All that living hands could do was done to keep him a while longer, but God knew best, he closed his eyes to earth to opened them in the morning of eternal life.
His funeral was held at the Beemerville United Brethren Church of which he was a member. December 11th, at 2 p. m., the funeral discourse was preached by the pastor. M. F. Pritchard, from the text found in the 15th chapter of 1st Cor. 19 and 20th verses. He was laid to rest in the Fisk Cemetery, beside his wife who died a year ago. M. F. Pritchard. [NOTE: The other obit. of Alexander states he married Arseneth at the age of 23 years old which would be 1832, instead of 1835; the former appearing to be correct according to the births of the first children.]
