Johnnie Alexander

Funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Hopewell United Methodist Church for Johnnie H. Alexander, 76, Fairfax Route One, who was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:45 a.m. Saturday at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, Langdale.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Robert Leverett. Burial was in the Shawmut Cemetery, with Johnson-Brown Service Funearal Home, Langdale, in charge.

A native of Tallapoosa County, he was born Aug. 8, 1893. Mr. Alexander was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church and was retired from Shawmut Mill. He had been a resident of The Valley for the past 25 years.

Survivors inlclude his widow, Mrs. Annie Pressley Alexander,; two daughters, Mrs. Katherline Smith, Lanett, and Mrs. Mary Calhoun, Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Johnnie Alexander, Lanett; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
