LANETT — Mrs. Katherine A. Smith, 80, of Lanett died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005 at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled Saturday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Anthony Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Richard) Mann and Nancy Price, both of Lanett; one son, Thomas Eugene Scavonne of LaGrange; one sister, Mary Calhoun of Jacksonville, Fla; five grandchildren, Dawn Hester of Five Points, Keith Jennings, Denise Rodgers and Melanie Browning, all of Valley, and Michael Sims of Hogansville; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Born May 5, 1925 in Troup County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Annie Lou Pressley Alexander and Johnnie Horace Alexander. She was a retired employee of WestPoint Stevens’ Lanett Mill. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Valley Rescue Squad.

The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 25 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
