"The LaFayette Sun" - June 22, 1932:

In Loving Remembrance of My Dear Mother.

Mrs. Sarah Ann Elizabeth Fetner was born December 9, 1849 and departed this life May 15, 1932 (sic), age 83 years 5 months and 15 days. She leaves to mourn her loss an aged husband, three sons, Messrs. J. W., R. L., and L. T. Fetner; four daughters Mrs. Ellen Abernathy, Mrs. Aldora Irvin, Mrs. Louella McClure and Mrs. Combs McClure, four brothers, Mrs. M. B., D. M., L. W. and Y. T. Allen, and a host of other relatives and friends.

All of her children and brothers were at her bedside during her last illness on earth, except one son who was unable to attend. All that loving hands could do was done to save her, but God said, 'tis enough, come home, so we had to submit to His will, but oh how sad it is to give up mother. She was so sweet during her last illness, never complained about anything. She was submissive to all things. Mother was conscious up to the last and died without one struggle, but oh it seems so hard to say farewell to one so dear.

Oh, dear mother, how we miss you.

A precious one from us is gone,

A voice we loved is still;

A place is vacant in our homes

That never can be filled.

There's a loved one up in heaven.

Whose dear face we miss;

When we close our earthly story

We will join her in her bliss.

Oh dear mother, how we miss you,

Only God can tell;

But our loss is your eternal gain,

So farewell, dear mother, farewell.

- A devoted daughter, Louella McClure
