Following Ellen Jane's death, James married Rhoda Ellen Carter on Nov. 27, 1888. They were the parents of five children: Floyd Enos, Virna Alice, Clema Roy, Cecil Fay and Mable Beatrice.
James E. Scott was a farmer much of his life in Union Township, Hendricks County, Indiana. Later in life, the family moved to Indianapolis where he was a construction worker on the Emrichsville Bridge over the White River in Indianapolis north of 16th Street. He passed away on Oct. 7, 1935.
