Injuries suffered in a fall some time ago resulted in the death of N. W. Scott, familiarly known as Bud Scott, of Raintown Monday (Mar. 12, 1951). He was widely known as a farmer and extensive land owner and, at the age of 92, had until recently operated his own automobile.

Nathaniel W. Scott, son of Samuel T. and Mary E. (Leach) Scott, was born on a farm south of Lizton September 5, 1858. His parents were among the early settlers of Union Township and, throughout the ninety-two years of Mr. Scott's life, he was privileged to see the many changes which came to his native community. He was the last survivor of his family.

On November 4, 1880, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Burgan and to this union was born ten children, two of whom died in infancy. Three others preceded him in death, Charles Otis, Alice Marie and Mrs. Minnie Hughes. Their mother died twenty-three years ago.

Uncle Bud, as Mr. Scott was known, was a farmer during his entire life. He was a friendly neighbor and maintained a keen interest and alertness to the end of his days. He was a familiar character to Lizton and Pittsboro people and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Mr. Scott is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Grace Bowman, Mrs. Bessie Blacketer, Mrs. Alma Dale of Lizton, Mrs. Gay Griffith and a son, Forest, of Pittsboro, ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at his residence on March 14, 1951 with burial in the K. of P. Cemetery at Lizton.
