"Son of Early Pioneer couple Dies; Service Slated Monday. Alexander Spowart Izatt, Jr., 87, of 296 East 4th North, Logan, died in a Logan hospital yesterday of causes incident to age after a short illness.
He was born 16 Mar 1873 in Logan, a son of Alexander S. Izatt and Jane Angus Izatt. He married Leona Jane Tibbs in Dec of 1897 at McEwen, Oregon. She died 13 Apr 1919. He then married Marian McNeil 4 Jun 1925 in Logan LDS Temple.
At the time of his death, Mr. Izatt was a High Priest in Cache Stake, and a member of Logan Fourth Ward. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marian Izatt of Logan; a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Defees, McEwen, Ore; a son, Dr. Reed M. Izatt, Provo. A son, Lloyd s. Izatt, preceded him in death.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a brother, George Izatt, Logan, besides an number of nephews and nieces.
A son of two of Cache Valley's earliest settlers, Mr. Izatt moved to East Oregon while a young man, and was one of the first settlers in Sumpter Valley, near Baker, where he was a successful rancher and farmer for more than 50 years. His permanent residence since 1942 has been in Logan.
Funeral services will be comducted Monday, 1 p.m., in Logan Fourth-16th Ward chapel by Bishop Heber Sharp. Friends may call at the Kenneth Lindquist Mortuary Sunday from 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 11 am to 1 pm. Burial will be in Logan City Cemetery."
