Elmer C. Stoner, 77, Washington Ave. Ext., Mifflintown, died Saturday morning, April 13 in the Lewistown Hospital.

Mr. Stoner was born Nov. 26, 1890, at Mifflintown, son of the late S. Clayton and Margaret Murphy Stoner.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, the former Mary H. Swartz, is one son, Dr. Robert E. Stoner of Lancaster; two brothers, Luther Stoner, Mifflintown and Gilbert Stoner of Altoona, and four grandsons.

In early years Mr. Stoner operated a clothing store at Mifflin. In 1959 he retired from the Department of Property and Supplies at Harrisburg.

He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church at Mifflintown and a veteran of World War I.

Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Guss Funeral Home at Mifflintown with Rev. Dr. Paul W. DeLauter officiating. Interment was made in St. Paul's Cemetery at Nook, where graveside military rites were conducted by the Veteran's Council.
