Mrs. Mary Julia Blackburn, 91, of Columbus, GA died Friday, Dec 11, 2009 after a brief illness at Vista Care at Franciscan Woods. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Macon Road Chapel with the Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from Noon to 1 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blackburn was born June 12, 1918 in Box Springs, GA to the late Jerry Miah and Emma Carden Anderson. She was a member of the Upatoi United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Blackburn was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Blackburn, Sr., a son, Harry Lee Blackburn, Jr., two grandsons, Jon Blackburn and Dustin Blackburn, and a granddaughter, Vicki Huebschman. Survivors include two sons, Robert F. Blackburn (Margrette) Huntsville, AL and James Allen Blackburn (Deanna) Williamsburg, VA; seven grandchildren, Andrea Chase, Omaha, NE, Brian Blackburn, Tyler, TX, Bryan Blackburn, Glen Alen, VA, Sean Blackburn, Prospect, VA, Matt Blackburn, Poway, CA, Harry Blackburn III, Mammoth Lakes, CA, and Debra Dickerson, Huntsville, AL; a sister, Annie Tanner of Nashville, TN; and 11 great grandchildren, Tommy Chase, Chrissy Chase, Addison Blackburn, Alyssa Blackburn, Lauren Nicole Blackburn, Matt Blackburn, Brandon Blackburn, Matthew Blackburn, Kirsten Blackburn, Jon Blackburn, and Brooke Blackburn.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Vista Care Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Parkway Columbus, GA. 31904 or Upatoi United Methodist Church, 13730 Macon Road, Upatoi, GA 31829.
