William J. Sylvia
William J. Sylvia, 83, of Ayer Road, Littleton died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at the Apple Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Ayer. Mr. Silva was born in South Dartmouth, Feb. 1, 1927 a son of Tetone P. and Irene (Hatch) Sylvia and has resided in Littleton for the past 10 years. Previously he had resided many years in Shirley. Mr. Sylvia is survived by his wife of 27 years Karen E. (Monsen) Sylvia of Littleton, four daughters: Debra J. Cassidy of Stow, Lynn M. Hogan of Maynard, Darlene A. Johnson of Marlborough, Michelle E. Gonsalves of Lunenburg, Renee R. Flaherty of Belchertown. He also leaves nine grandchildren. Mr. Sylvia had worked for over 30 years in the shipping and receiving departments at the Raytheon Corporation in Waltham, Burlington and Quincy, retiring in 1999. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes and many years ago sang in the Acton Baptist Church Choir. Mr. Sylvia took great pride in frequently donating blood to the American Red Cross. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bishop Road, Ayer.
