Obituary for Gloria G. (Kenney) Sylvia
Gloria G. (Kenney) Sylvia, 80, of Maynard and formerly of Waltham, died peacefully Thursday, January 26, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Waltham, she was one of eight children of the late Clarence and Edna (Prime) Kenney. Mrs. Sylvia was a graduate of Waltham High School and attended certificate programs in accounting. First employed at the First National in Waltham, she was the person employed for the most number of years at Roche Brothers in Acton, working in customer service and the heath and beauty section. Mrs. Sylvia looked forward to trips to Foxwoods and casinos, and enjoyed Las Vegas and a Caribbean cruise. She loved cats, and knitted, crocheted and did needlepoint until her health declined.
She is survived by three daughters, Debra Cassidy and husband Kevin, Lynn Hogan, and Darlene Johnson and husband Robert; 5 grandchildren,Jodie Jones, Kevin Mellen Jr., Diana Johnson, Rebecca Hogan, and Cameron Hogan and wife Justine; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Hogan.
Visiting will be Thursday, February 2nd from 11:00 to noon at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton. A procession will follow for graveside services in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Rd (Rt 117) Maynard.
