In his early years he was a jitney driver and later he farmed in Kingsville, MO. Later he worked at General Electric Co. in Kansas City until he was laid off in 1933. He returned to Kingsville again until he was hired by Standard Asbestos Insulating Co. in Kansas City. He retired from there in 1961 and moved to a 40 acre farm in Buffalo, MO.
His grandchildren called him 'Pappa'.
