Elizabeth (Brock) Pritchett was born Aug. 6, 1823 in Tennessee, the daughter of George and Nancy (Whitted) Brock. She married James Pritchett on Aug. 6, 1843 in Buchanan County, Missouri. Except for a few years spent in Missouri after their marriage, they farmed in southwestern Union Township, Hendricks County, Indiana their entire lives. They were the parents of eight children: Sarah Ellen Howard, Nancy May Scott, John Henry, Andrew Lewis, Eliza Jane Davis, George William, Thomas Charles A. and Samantha Coate. Elizabeth died on Aug. 19, 1906 and is buried in the North Salem cemetery.

The 1850 Census shows Elizabeth Pritchett (age 26, born in Tennessee) living in Middle Township (which then included present-day Union Township), Hendricks County, Indiana with husband James (age 28) and children Sarah E. (age 6), Nancy (age 3) and John H. J. (age 1). The 1860 Census shows Elizabeth Pritchett (age 36) living in Union Township, Hendricks County, Indiana with husband James (age 38) and children Sarah C. (age 15), Nancy (age 13), John (age 11), Andrew (age 9), Eliza J. (age 7), George (age 4) and Thomas (age 1). The 1870 Census shows Elizabeth Pritchitt (age 46) living in Union Township with husband James (age 51) and children John (age 21), Andrew (age 19), Eliza (age 17), George (age 15) and Samantha (age 6). The 1880 Census shows Elizabeth Pritchett (age 57) living in Union Township with husband James (age 60) and daughter Samantha B. (age 16). The 1900 Census shows Elizabeth Pritchett (age 76, born in Tennessee in August 1823) living in Union Township with husband James (age 80) and daughter Samantha (age 33).
