Death of Mrs. Webb
Mrs. J. B. Webb died at the family residence, 117 Clinton avenue, on Tuesday morning, after an illness of only about one week, although she had been in poor health for some time. The funeral service was held at the house on Wednesday afternoon, being conducted by Rev. John Norris Hall, of whose church, the First Methodist, she was an active and faithful member. Rev. C. M. Morton, a near neighbor, assisted in the service, joining the pastor in a brief tribute to the life and character of the departed, and Mr. and Mrs. George D. Elderkin, also neighbors and friends, sang appropriate selections. The interment was at Forest Home.
Before her marriage, forty-four years ago, Mrs. Webb was Miss Clarissa Spicer. She was born in New York state seventy-three years ago and after her marriage came west with her husband. The first lived in Iowa, but afterward came to Illinois, where they made their home in Belvidere and Rockford before coming to Oak Park, twenty-five years ago. The had lived in their Clinton avenue home for twenty-three years.
Mrs. Webb is survived by her husband and four children, George Webb, Lew Webb and Frank Webb, all of Oak Park, and Mrs. Stella Manning of Maple Park. She leaves two sisters in Oak Park, Mrs. S. S. Calkins and Mrs. Miles Crandall, besides two sisters and a brother in her native state. There are nine grandchildren.
