Son of Nicol McNichol, II and Agnes Douglas Alexander
Nicol's father was killed in a mining accident in Fallbrook, PA. He was raised by his stepfather Peter Boyd, his mother's 2nd husband.

Nicol Boyd, 83 of Dubois, Pa., formerly of Canton, Wednesday. Nov 21, 1951, at Sayre. Survived by daughters, Mrs. Otto Reed of Estes Park, Colo., Mrs. D.M. Brosius of Washington, D.C., Miss Melissa Boyd of Laurel, Md., and Miss Laurel Boyd of Wheeling, W. Va.; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hill, Mrs. Euphemia Hill, Mrs. Mary Robertson, Mrs. Nettie Segur, all of Canton; and Mrs. Margaret Mosher of Coudersport, Pa.; brother, Robert Boyd of Canton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Prayer service was held this morning at 9 at the Morse Funeral Home in Canton. The body was taken to the Paul Short Funeral Home in Dubois for funeral services at 2:30 this afternoon. The Rev. Lewis Bachman of Caton officiated. Morningside Cemetery, Dubois.
