Alfalfa Rites Are Held For Mrs. Nelson
Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Nelson, 84, were held at 2:30 p.m. last Thursday at the Alfalfa Baptist Church with Rev. James Weston officiating. Interment was in the Alfalfa cemetery. Mrs. Nelson died October 5, at the Carnegie Nursing Home.
Mrs. Katherine Florence Nelson was born January 3, 1885 in Ray County, Mo. She moved to Northern Oklahoma in 1898, and in 1902 came to the Alfalfa community with her parents. She was married to Embert Finis Nelson on July 27, 1904 and moved to the farm where she made her home for 65 years. She spent the last four years in the Carnegie Nursing Home due to ill health.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1932.
She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Martha Childers of Enid, Mrs. Grace McBride and Mrs. Dorothy Branham, both of Carnegie; three sons, Ewing of Martinez, Calif., Garnet, of Pampa, Tex., and Bruce of Willow; one sister, Mrs. Oda Geller of Hawthorne, Calif.; one brother, W.W. Fulk of Carnegie 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Those from out of town who attended funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Nelson last Tuesday were: Mr. and Mrs. Ewing Nelson, of Martinez, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Nelson, of Pampa, Tex., and Mrs. Bill Herman and Debbie of Memphis, Tenn., Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Nemecek, ReDonna and Deven of Yukon, Mrs. Margaret Ward and Donnie of Oklahoma City, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis McBride of Lawton, Mr. W.C. Nelson, Mrs. Opal Wayman and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Childers, Betty, Pam, Jerry and Traver, all of Enid.
And Mrs. Ethel Strome of Tonkawa, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Richards of Elgin, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Taylor of Lexington, Mr. and Mrs. Dellis Nelson of Goltry, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Harper of Elk City, Mrs. M.H. Keen of Sentinel, Mrs. Ervin Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Cooper, Mrs. Alf Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Nelson, Mike and Marvin, all of Willow; Mrs. Loretta Childers and Gary of Frederick, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Baker of El Reno, Irene and James Bowen of Carter, and Mr. and Mrs. Preston Bolenbaugh of Hunter.
