Rebecca Ann Hamlin, daughter of M. B. and Lydia Baird, was born in Wood county, Ohio, May 10, 1844. At the age of six years she moved with her parents to Wolcottville, Indiana in which vicinity she has spent the greater portion of her life.

She was early married to Lewis Putt. To them was born one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Putt. She was later married to Henry Hamlin to whom was born a son, Frank. Mr. Hamlin died January 7, 1901.

Sister Hamlin has been it faithful member of the Wolcottville Baptist church for more than thirty-five years, having united with that congregation March 10, 1878. For the past twelve years she has made her home with her children.

After an illness covering a period of three years and with much suffering, she passed to her eternal home, Tuesday. October 7, 1913, aged sixty-nine years, four months and twenty-seven days.

Besides a host of neighbors and friends, their remain to mourn her decease, two sisters, Josephine Emminger and Rachel Baird, five brothers, Stephen, Edward, Samuel, Charles and Josephus Baird, one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Putt, one son, Frank Hamlin, two step-children, Mrs. May Newman and Albert Hamlin, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted at the Wolcottville Baptist church by her pastor, Rev. Joseph Belcher at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, October 9, 1913. Interment took place in the Woodlawn cemetery.
