Charles Edward Broughton was born 30 Oct 1856 in Linesville-Conneaut, Crawford, Pennsylvania to Zephon Warriner Broughton and Mary D Backus. Charles Edward was one of nine children.
He married Amanda Alla Carpenter on June 3 1877 in Glendale, Monroe, Wisconsin. As a couple and with family, they lived in Nebraska, La Grande, Oregon, San Miquel, Calif. and San Luis Obispo.
They had 10 children but only three survived: Charles Raymond, Ruby Bell, Eula Verle.
Amanda Alla is buried in Riverside, Riverside, California, in the Olivewood Cemetery.

Broughton Funeral
Funeral services for Charles Edward Broughton, who died yesterday at his home on Mill Street at the age of 67 years, will be held this afternoon at 4 O'clock in the Richard Parlors.
He leaves a widow, Mrs. Allie Broughton and 2 daughters, Mrs. Ruby Lee and Mrs. Eula Mitchell of this city.
Interment will be made in the Lawn Cemetery.
