Robert Ford Bass, a son William Jefferson Bass and Lou Elizabeth Webb, was born 10 Jan 1884 at Hebron, Lawrence County, Mississippi, and died 09 Mar 1968 at Houston, Harris County, Texas. He married Cora J. Rich on 08 Jun 1904 at Poplarville, Pearl River County, Mississippi. Cora J. Rich was a daughter of William H. Rich and Elizabeth Slade.

Robert Ford Bass was a business manager by occupation: Chief Clerk Gulf Ship Island Railroad, Chief Clerk Illinois Central Railroads, Business Manager Mississippi Woman's College. He organized and managed the Shelby Co-operative Housing Association providing housing for more than 2,500 officers stationed at Camp Shelby between 1940 and 1945.
