Miles Oyler Thompson

TREMONTON - Miles, Oyler Thompson, 84, died April 23 2001 from complications of pneumonia, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake. He was born October 25, 1916, in Tremonton, UT, to James Peter and Sarah Lezetta Oyler Thompson. He married Nola Steed on September 17, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away April 21, 1986.

Miles lived most of his life in the Bear River Valley. He graduated from Bear River High School and attended Utah State University until he was called to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War ll, where he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He was the ship's carpenter and was known for his expertise with wood. He was also the ship's photographer.

He has worked hard all his life as a master carpenter and cabinet maker and has built many beautiful homes and churches.

He was a High Priest in the Tremonton 2nd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in many church callings including Sunday School President, Ward Clerk and Bishop. He has been a temple officiator in the Logan Temple and enjoyed attending the temple often, He is survived by his children, Laura Thompson, Layton; Stanley Lynn (Ipo) Thompson, Bear River City, UT; Annette Larsen, Layton, UT; David Larry (Nancy) Thompson, Tremonton, UT; James Leslie Thompson, Lowell, MA; Kevin Lynn (Charlotte) Thompson, Syracuse, UT; Corey Peter (Stacy) Thompson, Brigham City, UT; 39 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Thompson Mitchell, brothers and sister, Leland, Eugene, Thelma O'Brien, Verdon, Dale, Owen.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton 2nd & 5th Ward Chapel, 300 South Tremont with Bishop David Guillot officiating Friends may call Wed., Apr. 25th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thurs., Apr. 26th from 9:15-10:30 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton.

Interment in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
