Leland J. Thompson, 71, of 562 Cherry Drive, died Saturday, at the Cooley Hospital of a heart attack.

Mr. Thompson was born Dec. 6, 1902, in East Garland, a son of James P. and Lezella Oyler Thompson.

He was reared and educated in Tremonton and attended Box Elder High School. He lived in Garland and Tremonton before moving to Brigham City.
He was married to Mary Wise on May 21, 1924, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was an elder in the Brigham City 20th LDS Ward and had worked as an electrician at Hill Air Force Base for 22 years.

Surviving are his widow, three sons and one daughter, 14 grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday in the Tremonton LDS Stake Center with Bishop Thomas Purdue of the Brigham City 20th Ward officiating.

Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery in Tremonton, under the direction of Rogers Mortuary.
