Funeral services for LeRoy Christy, 66, of 314 E St. S, a resident of Newton since 1957, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 2, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. James Black, pastor of the Foursquare Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society will be accepted.
He died Wednesday morning at his home of cancer.
Survivors are his wife, Lucille; a son, Melvin Lewis of Milan, Mo.; a daughter, Beverly Ann [Mrs. Leon] Whariff, Jr. of Newton; a grand child; and a great-grandchild.
Also surviving are three brothers, Edward and Bill, both of Alva, Mo ., and Albert of Syracuse, Kan.; and two sisters, Viola Denny of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Dovie Grant of San Diego, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters .
Mr. Christy, a Marine vereran of World War II, was a member of the Newt on American Legion Post III.
He was employed by Peters Construction co. for 25 yearsprior to starti ng his own construction contractor business in 1983.
The son of Lewis and Violet Harwick Christy, he was born May 13, 1926 in Alva, Missouri, and was graduated from Humphreys, Mo., High School.
He was married to Lucille Williams Sept. 4, 1947 in Trenton, Mo.
