John Wolf b. 1806, KY, d. 1863, Crowley's Ridge, Cross Co., AR, m. 1826, at Athens (then the county seat, Izard Co., AR,) to Margaret Livingston. John Wolf moved with his family to Calico Rock by Keel-boat in 1831. The family had to cut a path through the dense bottom to higher ground, where he built a temporary hut of poles where they lived until a log cabin could be built.
He was a chaplain in the Confederate Army and took sick while on duty. His body was buried somewhere near where he died but the exact place of his grave is unknown. His daughter, Mary, was married to William B. Kennedy in the same unit, Company I 14 Ark Inf. and also a casualty of the war at Crowley's Ridge. Rev. Wolf had two son serving the unit, Robert Livingston Wolf and Michael Hedrick Wolf.
Rev. Wolf about 56 years old when serving. He was the younger brother to Major Jacob Wolf. The company commander was Wythe Adams, son of Mary Ann Wolf, sister to Rev. John Wolf, and her husband John Q. Adams. The Wolf family had 45 family members serving AR CSA.
It is not known where his wife, Margaret Livingston, is buried. No head stone has been found but perhaps she is in the Talley Cemetery where the son Robert Livingston Wolf #24027918 Robert Livingston Wolf
and his wife and children are buried. Robert married Catherine Adams and they were the parents of John Quincy Wolf PhD author of LIfe in the Leatherwoods.

He married Agnes Dugging and Agnes died when a horse threw her against a stump. She was going to visit her sister, Phoebe, (Mrs. Hardin Shipp), who was fatally ill. Before she lost consciousness, she told the young boy who was accompanying her, to place the baby near her and to go for help. When help arrived, Agnes was dead and the baby was playing along the river's edge. A few years later, he married a young widow, Jane Senter. There were no living children of the second marriage. They lived in the Calico Rock area but no burial sites are known for he or his two wives.
Other childrten were: Eliza Jane Wolf who married William Swan. Mary Wolf married William B. Kennedy and he died at the same time her father did in CSA service, Ann Catherine Wolf who married David Finley, and Letty Wolf.
