He and his brother had been on fur trading trip and became ill from Cholera on way home. He died and was buried by his brother William, who also became ill and died before he could leave the island to go home. William was found by family members and subsequently buried on the island besides his brother.

The island in White River disappeared in later years when Norfork Dam was constructed. It would have been in Izard county at the time in 1832 but in modern time would have been in Baxter County.

George was unmarried.
