Helen L. Honess Dies Suddenly at Home Near Lizton

Was Danville School Nurse for Twelve Years

Mrs. Helen Leak Honess, Danville school nurse and teacher, was found dead in bed at her home near Lizton, Sunday afternoon about 5 o'clock by her mother, Mrs. Ed Leak. Mrs. Honess had met her health classes and attended to other school duties, Friday, and in the evening attended the May Prom festivities at Danville high school. On Sunday, she remarked that she was "So tired"; and after several hours sleep, her mother called to her but she did not answer. It is not known definitely when death occurred.

Funeral services were held at the home, Tuesday afternoon at 2, in charge of the Rev. Lester Pifer, with burial in the K. of P. cemetery.

Mrs. Honess was born October 22, 1907, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Leak, on the farm where she died. She attended Lizton schools, and graduated from the City hospital School of Nursing, Indianapolis, in 1929. She was a member of the Lizton Christian church, American Legion Auxiliary, Tri Kappa sorority, Order of Eastern Star at Greensburg, and the State Nurses' Association.

She had been executive secretary of the Hendricks County Tuberculosis Association for twelve years, served as county nurse for a similar period, and has been in charge of the school round-up several years. Last year, she confined her time to the Danville schools, and also served as school treasurer and assisted in the office.

She was married to Clayton E. Honess, June 17, 1943, at Vancouver, Wash. Mr. Honess preceded her September 3, 1945. Since his death she had lived with her parents.

Surviving with the parents is one sister, Mrs. Blanche Bird, of Greensburg.
